Traffic Audit
Section & Function:-
In Northeast Frontier Railway, the Traffic Audit Section studies the various activities of the department such as marketing, traffic development, improvements in quality of railway services provided to customers, regulation of passenger/ coaching/ freight tariffs, monitoring of collection, accountal and remittance of revenues from passenger/ freight traffic. Also, activities such as long-term and short-term planning of transportation services, management of day to day running of trains including their time table, ensuring availability of rolling stock to meet the expected demand and conditions for safe running of trains.
The audit also examines the system provides adequate checks and balances of the system and ascertain the effectiveness of the system of accounting and internal check.
Auditee Units:-
The Auditee units of Traffic Audit Section pertains mainly to Commercial Department of Zonal HQ/Divisions and Railway Stations of the zone. Stations are categorised as Very Big, Big, Major and Minor depending on the goods earnings of the stations. Further, Stations are categorised as NSG1, NSG2, NSG3, NSG4 etc. depending on the fare and parcel earnings of the respective stations.
