The office of the Director General of Audit (Central Receipt), New Delhi, came into existence on bifurcation of the erstwhile office of the Director General of Audit, Central Revenues, New Delhi vide Headquarters office order dated 31 July 2009. The office of the Director General of Audit (Central Receipt) is entrusted with the audit of receipts as well as expenditure in respect of Income Tax, Customs, and GST. Regional Training Centre (RTC), New Delhi functions under the administrative control of this office. The material contributed by the office are forwarded to the Headquarters in the form of Draft Paragraphs (DPs) and data/comments relating to Performance Audits for incorporation in the C & AG's Reports on Revenue Receipts (Union Government).
The Director General of Audit (Central Receipt) is assisted by two Group Officers, one for Income Tax Receipt Audit (RAIT) and the other for audit of Customs (CRA), GST(CERA) and Regional Training Centre (RTC) and two group officers at Gwalior Branch office (one for Receipt audit and other for expenditure audit & administration work at Gwalior).
