Public Works Department

1. Public Works Department (PWD) (Available Units - 400)
   • The Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (UPPWD), established around 1854, is the principal department responsible for construction, improvement, strengthening, and maintenance of roads, bridges, and government buildings in the State. The Department plays a key role in development of public infrastructure and implementation of various connectivity and building projects across Uttar Pradesh.

Industry & Commerce

1. Infrastructure & Industrial Development Department (IIDD) (Available Units - 14)
    
   • The Infrastructure & Industrial Development Department (IIDD) is the principal department responsible for promotion of industrial and infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh. Formed in 2007 through the merger of the Industrial Development and Infrastructure Development Departments, IIDD formulates and implements policies for investment promotion, balanced regional development, and ease of doing business, while also facilitating establishment of industrial units and addressing grievances of investors and entrepreneurs.

2. Khadi and Village Industries Department (Available Units - 3)
   • The Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board is the principal body functioning under the Khadi and Village Industries Department for promotion and development of the Khadi and Village Industries sector in the State. The Board was constituted under the Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Act, 1960, and was reorganized as an Autonomous Body after amendment of the Act in 1966. In April 1967, all Khadi and Village Industries schemes were transferred from the Directorate of Industries, Uttar Pradesh, to the Board for implementation across the State.

3. Handloom and Textiles Industry Department (Available Units - 15)
   • The Directorate of Handloom and Textiles is the principal organization responsible for development and promotion of the handloom and textile sector in Uttar Pradesh. The Directorate works for welfare of weavers, modernization of textile industries, skill development, employment generation, and marketing support for traditional textile products. It also implements various Central and State Government schemes related to handloom, powerloom, silk, and textile development in the State.

4. Geology and Mining Department (Available Units - 80)
   • The Directorate of Geology and Mining, established in 1955, is the principal organization responsible for exploration, conservation, and scientific development of mineral resources in Uttar Pradesh. The Directorate conducts geological and mineral surveys, explores mineral deposits, processes mining lease applications, inspects and demarcates mining areas, monitors mineral revenue, and handles mineral-related litigation. It also advises the State Government on matters related to mineral development and promotion of mineral-based industries.

5. Civil Aviation Department (Available Units - 2)
   • The Directorate of Civil Aviation, established in 1975, is the principal organization responsible for development and coordination of civil aviation activities in Uttar Pradesh. Initially limited to operation of State aircraft, the Directorate now works towards development of aviation infrastructure, enhancement of air connectivity, airport development, and promotion of regional air transport in the State.

6. Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and Export Promotion Department (Available Units - 77)
   • The Directorate of Industries and Enterprise Promotion is the principal executive organization under the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Export Promotion, responsible for implementation of government policies for industrial development in Uttar Pradesh. The Directorate promotes entrepreneurship, facilitates industrial production and investment, and supports employment generation through implementation of various schemes and programmes of the Central and State Governments.
