Office of the Principal Director of Audit, Railway, Mumbai is one of the offices of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department functioning under the control of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). It is one among the 09 Zonal Railway Audit Offices in India. The Principal Director of Audit, Railway, Mumbai is responsible to the CAG of India in respect of administrative matters and Audit through the Deputy/Additional Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General of India (DAI/ADAI) (Railways). The main office of Principal Director of Audit, Railway, Mumbai is situated at CSMT, Mumbai with branch offices at Churchgate, Mumbai & Ahmedabad. Office of the Principal Director of Audit, Railway, Mumbai, is responsible for conducting:
- Audit of accounts of Central Railway (CR)
- Audit of accounts of Western Railway (WR)
- Supplementary audit of
- Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL)
- Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDC)
- Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC)
- Compiling the audit findings for inclusion in the Audit Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on the accounts of Indian Railways under Article 151 of the Constitution of India.
The audit of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL), a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has been entrusted to this office during May 2012.
The audit of Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDC) has been entrusted to this office during November 2018.
The audit of Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC) has been entrusted to this office during 2018.
The audit office of Principal Director of Audit, Central Railway and Principal Director of Audit, Western Railway were merged into one office and named as Office of the Principal Director of Audit, Railway, Mumbai since December 2025.
