Shri S. Sunil Raj, IAAS, belongs to the 1996 batch of the Civil Services. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, as well as a Master’s degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras.
Prior to his posting in Jammu & Kashmir, he served as Director General (Audit) in the Office of the Director General (Audit), London. During his earlier assignments as Principal Accountant General/Accountant General, he served in Kerala and Madhya Pradesh. He has also served in various offices in New Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
During his deputation to the Government of Kerala, he served on the Board of the Kerala Water Authority as Member (Accounts). His international audit assignments include the audit of the United Nations, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
An avid badminton player, his other interests include reading, gardening, water conservation, and renewable and green energy sources.
