Right to Information:

 

Government of India has enacted the Right to Information Act, 2005 & published in extraordinary Gazette Part-II Sec. I dated 21-06-2005. As per Right to Information (Regulation of Fee & Cost) Rules, 2005 issued vide GOI Minister of personnel, Public Grievances and Pension, (Department of Personnel and Training) Notification dated 16-9-2005; a request for obtaining information has to be accompanied by application fee as detailed below. 


Acceptance of Fee:

According to the Right to Information (Regulation of Fee and Cost) Rules, 2005 as amended by the Right to Information (Regulation of Fee and Cost) Rules, 2006, an applicant can make payment of fee in cash or by demand draft or banker’s cheque or Indian Postal Order payable to the Accounts Officer of the public authority. The public authority should ensure that payment by any of the above modes is not denied or the applicant is not compelled to draw IPO etc. in the name of any officer other than the Accounts Officer.


Application fee:


The request for obtaining information under sub-section (1) of section 6 shall be accompanied by an application fee of Rupees ten by way of cash against proper receipt or by demand draft or bankers cheque or Indian Postal Order. 
For providing information under sub-section (1) of section 7: Fee shall be charged by way of cash against proper receipt or by Demand Draft or Banker’s Cheque or Indian Postal Order at the following rates:

(a) Rupees Two (Rs. 2/-) for each page (in A4 or A3 size paper) created or copied
(b) Actual charge or cost price of a copy in larger size paper
(c) Actual cost or price for samples or models and
(d) For inspection of records, no fee for the first hour and a fee of Rs. 5/- for each subsequent hour (or fraction thereof)

For providing information under sub-section (5) of section 7: fee shall be charged at the following rates:

(a) For information provided in diskette or floppy-  Rupees fifty (Rs. 50/-) per diskette or floppy and

(b) For information provided in printed form at the price fixed for such publication or Rupees two (Rs. 2/-) of photocopy for extracts from the publication.
