Duties and Responsibilities

The office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Delhi is responsible to:

Audit

Receipts and expenditure of all departments/offices of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) as well as of autonomous bodies, government companies and statutory corporations under its administrative control;

Delhi Police which falls under the administrative control of the Union Ministries of Home Affairs; and

the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Review

Review schemes of the Municipal Corporations of Delhi and the New Delhi Municipal Council, through the facilitation of the Department of Urban Development of GNCTD.

Assist

Assist the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the Committee on Government Undertakings (COGU) of the Delhi Legislative Assembly in examination of the Audit Reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India relating to the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Pre-check

Pre-check and payment of all claims, authorization of pension and retirement benefits, maintenance of Provident Fund accounts including accounts under New Pension Scheme, long term/short term advances of eleven DDOs of Indian Audit and Account Department.

Compile the accounts

Compile the accounts relating to eleven offices of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department in Delhi including the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
