Mr. Varun Ahluwalia, CFA, is an officer of the 2010 batch of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS). He currently serves as Accountant General (Audit), Nagaland, under the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
Over 15 years, he has held senior roles across audit, accounts, and financial advisory functions — including Senior Deputy Accountant General (Audit), Haryana; Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer at PGIMER, Chandigarh (one of India's premier public hospitals); Director of Revenue Audit, Jaipur; and Deputy Accountant General, Punjab.
He has served on external audit teams for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
A CFA charter holder, he holds a Master's in Public Policy from the Harris School of Public Policy, The University of Chicago and a Diploma in IPSAS from CIPFA, London. He has completed advanced training at the Anderson School of Business, UCLA.
