Shri Gurpreet Walia, IA&AS
Accountant General
Shri Gurpreet Walia is an Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) officer of the 2009 batch. He has assumed charge as Accountant General (Audit-II), Punjab, Chandigarh on 21 April 2026. Prior to joining this office, he held the charge of Principal Director (Southern Region & Synchronization) in Office of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India, New Delhi.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Computer Science. During his distinguished career, he has handled a wide range of audit and financial management assignments at both national and international levels. His overseas assignments include Financial Audit at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Rome, Italy; Embassy Audits in Algeria and Seychelles; and Compliance and Financial Audits in Nairobi, Kenya, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He has also represented India at the 7th Indo-China Young Auditors Forum held in China.
He has undergone extensive professional training in areas such as data analytics, data visualization, environmental auditing, public procurement, corporate governance, climate change and sustainable development, SAP-ERP, project management, financial auditing, and leadership development, including programmes conducted by IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bengaluru, NAAA Shimla, iCED Jaipur, iCISA Noida, and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
With a strong background in information technology, financial and compliance auditing, environmental auditing, and international audit assignments, he brings rich professional experience and leadership to the Office of the Accountant General (Audit-II), Punjab.
He is the First Appellate Authority of this office under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005.
