Introduction

INTRODUCTION:

The Office of the Director General of Audit (Steel), Ranchi is entrusted with the responsibility of conducting Compliance Audit and Accounts Audit of the transactions of organisations engaged in steel manufacturing, mining and e-commerce services. Apart from the Headquarters at Ranchi, the office has Resident Audit Offices at Bhilai, Rourkela, Bokaro, Kolkata, Burnpur and Durgapur. Consequent upon restructuring of audit jurisdictions, this office has been entrusted with the audit of the Ministry of Steel (MoS), Pay and Accounts Office of MoS and 22 Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) functioning under the administrative control of the Ministry of Stee

AUDIT FUNCTION

Function and duties of the office includes-

1. Corporate Plan/Action Plan, Preparation of Annual Audit Plan and Implementation Report, Approval/implementation of Quarterly Audit Plan of Resident Audit Offices and Local Audit Parties located at Ranchi.
2. Compliance Audit and Performance Audit of the Government Companies, Autonomous Bodies and Central Statutory Corporations, Compliance Audit/ Grant based audit of Non-Government Organisations.
3. Certification of Annual Accounts of Government Companies and issue of comments under section 143(6) of the Companies Act, 2013. Processing of Compliance Audit Paras and Performance Audit Reports.
4. Audit of Ministry of Steel with audit of Pay & Accounts Office of MoS
5. Vetting of Action Taken Notes on Audit Report Paras, Preparation of Memorandum of Important Points.
6. Preparation of Summarised Financial Results of the Companies

INFORMATION SYSTEM

• All Information Technology related work viz. Assessment of requirements and purchase of IT assets and consumable items through GeM, maintenance of IT assets manually and through Online Inventory Module, LAN, IA&AD Net, VPN, NIC email, e-Office, OIOS,  AMC contracts for IT assets, Video Conferencing, Website/subsite content management system etc.

TRAINING ACTIVITIES

• All correspondence with Regional Training Institute, Ranchi and other RTIs, International Centre of Information System and Audit(iCISA), Noida, Uttar Pradesh, International Centre Environment Audit  and Sustainable Development (iCED), Jaipur, O P Jindal Global University, Sonepat, Haryana. Training Need Analysis for RTI Ranchi and iCED, Jaipur, nomination of participants in RTIs and Inhouse through  System Automation Initiatives (SAI) Training Project, information technology related data maintenance of Auditee units in iCISA server,
