Introduction

The office was established as office of the Principal Director of Audit, Scientific Departments on 1 April 1986. In May 2018, the office was re-designated as the office of the Director General of Audit, Scientific Departments. This office is responsible for audit of Scientific and Environmental Ministries/Departments, including their attached and subordinate offices as well as autonomous bodies spread all over India.
