Introduction

The office of Principal Accountant General (Audit-I), Uttar Pradesh is situated in Satyanishtha Bhawan, 15-A, Dayanand Marg, Prayagraj–211001.This office is responsible for audit of Departments of the Government of Uttar Pradesh such as, Home, Law, Planning, Medical, Health and Welfare, Education, Skill Development and Employment, Rural Development, Agriculture, Food and Allied Industries, Water Resources, Urban Development, Law and Order & General Administration. Irrigation, Rural Development,  Welfare, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sports, Culture, Food & Civil Supplies, Collectorate, Police, Election, Vigilance, Estate etc. In addition, 27 Public Sector Undertakings of the Government of Uttar Pradesh are also audited under section 619 of the Companies Act.

Audit of Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state is also conducted by this office. We are also responsible for certification of Finance & Appropriation Accounts of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. (Finance cluster has been allocated to O/o PAG (Audit-II) U.P.

Principal Accountant General (Audit-1), Uttar Pradesh is the Cadre Controlling Authority for officers and staff of Group ‘A (Sr. Audit Officer)’ ‘B’ & ‘C’ cadres of the three offices of Principal Accountant General (Audit-I), Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj; Principal Accountant General (Audit-II), Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow and Director General of Audit (Central), Lucknow.
