Mr. Varun Ahluwalia is an officer of the 2010 batch of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) and currently serves as the Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlements), Nagaland. With over 15 years of experience in public financial management, auditing, and policy advisory, he leads the State’s core functions in accounts, pensions, provident funds, and entitlements under the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

He has earlier served in diverse leadership roles, including Senior Deputy Accountant General (Audit), Haryana, where he supervised audits of key government departments, and as Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer at PGIMER, Chandigarh, strengthening financial governance in one of India’s premier healthcare institutions. His career also includes roles as Director of Revenue Audit, Jaipur, and Deputy Accountant General, Punjab, where he pioneered IT-enabled audit innovations and strengthened fiscal accountability.

Mr. Ahluwalia has been part of  international audits teams for the audit of  Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Chicago, a Diploma in IPSAS from CIPFA, London, and has undertaken advanced training at the Anderson School of Business, UCLA. He has appeared for the CFA Level III exam and is awaiting results.
