Dr. Amitha A Jayaram  is an officer of the 2013 batch of the Indian Audit & Accounts Service. She joined the Academy as Director in July 2024. At the Academy, she teaches courses on Public Sector Audit encompassing the broader areas of good governance, public administration, policy and public finance. She also oversees the planning, coordination and execution of various short-term training and capacity-building programs for officers of the IA&AS and several other Central Civil Services conducted throughout the year.

Previously Dr. Amitha has served as Senior Deputy Accountant General and Deputy Accountant General with experience in audits across diverse sectors including water conservation, waste management, welfare of socially disadvantaged groups, the Right to Education, rural and urban infrastructure, mineral resources and energy security. She is a recipient of the CAG Award for Innovation and Excellence in Public Auditing (2021), as part of a team recognized for application of advanced technologies in audit to deliver pioneering audit insights.

Dr. Amitha is a Fulbright scholar and holds a Masters in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) degree from Harvard University, USA. She is a winner of the Harvard Environmental Economics Paper Prize and the Outstanding SYPA award at Harvard University.

A qualified medical doctor with an MBBS degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, she also  holds an MA in Economics from the University of Mysore.
